Fishing and Tide Information

Some of the best angling fish in the Coolangatta area include Bream, Snapper and Tailor. All of these fish can be caught along the beaches with Bream and Tailor also able to be caught in some of the estuaries.

It is important that you consult the local tackle shop if you are unsure of the recreational fishing regulations that apply in Queensland as there are serious penalties for infringements. The Queensland Department of Primary Industry is responsible for regulating recreational fishing in Queensland.

Regulations apply to:

  • The size and number of fish you may catch
  • The seasons that you can catch certain fish
  • And the type of equipment you are permitted to use

If you are unsure of the local restrictions contact the Department of Primary Industries Call Center on 13 25 23 if you live in Queensland or +61 7 3404 6999 for Interstate and International callers.
